McLeish publishes Scottish football review
The Scottish Premier League (SPL) and Scottish Football League (SFL) should merge to ensure an 'integrated approach to the professional game', according to a new review.
It is one of a number of recommendations outlined in the review, which was carried out by former First Minister Henry McLeish on behalf of the Scottish Football Association. A restructuring of the Scottish league system, which could see the Premier League reduced to 10 teams and the formation of a new Conference, in addition to Divisions One and Two.
McLeish said: "This review is intended to provide a comprehensive assessment of the problems, challenges and opportunities facing football. "We are committed to change and we believe now is the time to act for the sake of the game at all levels, from grassroots to elite performance."
