MGS announces new organisational structure
Museums Galleries Scotland's (MGS) new structure is to come into effect next month as it moves towards taking on the functions a National Development Body (NDB) for the sector.
MGS, which represents more than 340 museums and galleries throughout Scotland, said the new structure marks the start of a transition period leading up to the NDB's formal launch.
The new NDB will be the strategic development organisation that will support the sector and will play a crucial role in implementing a new national strategy for museums and galleries.
According to MGS, there is a move towards increased partnership working and the exchange of best practice, as well as a strategic commissioning and contracting approach to delivery.
In a statement, MGS said: "The revised organisational structure will take into account the additional skills required to take forward the organisation's new remit."
