Justice scheme to sponsor Scottish League Cup
The Scottish Government has announced that a £1m package using cash recovered from the proceeds of crime will be used to sponsor the Scottish Football League Cup.
CashBack for Communities launched in 2007 to redistribute funding under the Proceeds of Crime Act, which aims to increase sport and physical activity opportunities. The competition will now be known as the Scottish Communities League Cup and will also see the Scottish Government provide greater support to clubs to work in their local areas.
First Minister Alex Salmond said: "We have invested more than £40m of crooks' cash over the past four years in improving facilities and running community projects. "During that time more than half a million young people have taken part in CashBack activities - who knows, Scotland's future football stars could well be unearthed."
