The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) has established a merit scholarship to its annual Institute for Professional Club Management in the name of its executive director, John McCarthy.

The annual John McCarthy Merit Scholarship will be made to a qualified candidate who can demonstrate their passion for and commitment to the health club industry’s future, as well as their service, sales and leadership skills.

“It is with great pleasure that we introduce this scholarship,” said Joe Moore, president of IHRSA’s board of directors.

“Under John’s tutelage, the IHRSA Institute has become a tremendous educational resource for health club professionals and it seems fitting that we honor John in this special and lasting way.”

IHRSA will host the 18th Annual IHRSA Institute for Professional Club Management on 7-11 August this year at the Babson Executive Conference Center in Wellesley, Massachusetts, US.
