Green light for Reds’ stadium plans
Liverpool FC’s new stadium plans have been approved by the City Council.
The £300m, 60,000-seat stadium – designed by US architects HKS – must now receive the final go ahead from Hazel Blears, secretary of state for communities and local government.
The Stanley Park stadium – which replace Liverpool’s famous Anfield home – has an asymmetrical design, with an 18,000-seat single tier stand, and will also incorporate facilities for the Anfield Sport and Community Centre and Liverpool Hope University, and its external amenities will include tennis courts and multi-use games area.
The stadium is expected to be completed in 2010.
