Fusion to manage Oxford facilities
Fusion Lifestyle has announced that it will take over the running of leisure facilities in Oxford from 30 March after securing a 10-year management contract with the city council.
Working in partnership with Oxford City Council (OCC), Fusion has said it intends to improve facilities at seven sites across the city, as well as to reduce overall costs in a bid to provide better value for money to customers. Centre users and the local community are set to be consulted in the coming weeks over long-term improvement proposals for each of the facilities to be managed by Fusion.
The centres to be run by Fusion include Barton Pool; Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre; Blackbird Leys Pool; Ferry Sports Centre; Hinksey Pool; Oxford Ice Rink; and Temple Cowley Pool and Fitness Centre. OCC leader Bob Price said: "The partnership with Fusion is good news, and will provide an excellent basis for developing our facilities with a partner who has wide experience of the leisure industry across south east England and London.
"Our aim is to develop a rolling programme of improved facilities and services, increasing our value for money over the years. We certainly expect there to be short-term gains, but this is a long-term partnership for improvement." Peter Kay, Fusion chief executive, added: "We will be maintaining business as usual and will be working towards new opportunities to develop the centres in partnership with the council and local community groups."
