Fortune smiles on the leisure industry
The latest listing by Fortune magazine of its 500 top American companies by revenue contains a number of names from the leisure industry.
Appearances were made at number 29 by AOL Time Warner; Walt Disney, 61; Pepsico, 62; Coca-Cola Enterprises, 108; Mcdonalds, 124; Marriott International, 175; Nike, 188; Park Place Entertainment, 354; Darden Restaurants, 372; Harrrah's Entertainment, 386; Starwood Hotels & Restaurants, 412; Hilton Hotels, 416; Host Marriott, 434; Starbucks, 465 and Reebok International, 483.
Starbucks also appear, at number 9, in the Fortune 2003 list of America's Most Admired Companies.
Amongst airlines, Delta landed at 145; Northwest at 193; Continental at 220; US Airways at 262 and Southwest at 306.
The top 10 consisted of Wal-Mart stores, owners of Asda supermarkets in the UK; General Motors; Exxon; Ford Motor; General Electric; Citigroup; Chevron Texaco; IBM; American International and Verizon Communications. www.fortune.com
