Former Snowdonia NPA chair passes away
John Tudor, the former chair of Snowdonia National Park Authority (SNPA) between 1974 and 1999, has died at the age of 88.
Tudor was initially appointed as vice-chair of the 823sq mile (2,132sq km) Snowdonia National Park in 1973 before the management of the area came under the responsibility of Gwynedd County Council. He was appointed as chair a year later, and during his 25-year tenure he oversaw the transfer of management of the national park from the council to the free-standing SNPA in 1996 before retiring in 1999.
