Fitness First invests in member support
Fitness First has invested £4m in its fitness product to provide increased support and motivation to members.
The company has tailored its induction service to meet the needs of the individual.
New joiners can now choose between group inductions, one to one personalised instruction or personal training, along with 45 minute studio taster sessions to sample a range of classes.
A five-point health check incorporates measures of blood pressure, resting heart rate, lung capacity, flexibility and body fat percentage.
Members are also encouraged to book regular re-assessments to enable both the instructor and the member to monitor progress more effectively.
The company has also commissioned research which found that almost 50 per cent of the population believe themselves to lack self-motivation.
Of the more than 1,700 people interviewed across the UK, 15 per cent would be prepared to pay more than £10,000 to wake up tomorrow and find their body in the best shape it could possibly be.
A further 45 per cent would pay £1,000 and more.
“With almost half the population admitting that they don't have the willpower and motivation to achieve this alone, we have enhanced our fitness services to encourage a long term commitment to regular moderate exercise,” said Tim Keightley, UK fitness director at Fitness First.
