Council agrees to Corwen Pavilion land transfer

Denbighshire County Council (DCC) has approved the transfer of land on which Corwen Pavilion, North Wales, is situated to a working group set up to preserve the facility.
The council's decision follows a meeting with the Corwen Pavilion working group on 22 July and was reached on the condition that the group forms as a charitable trust and uses the land to build a new facility. Earlier this year, DCC was forced to close the building due to "significant" health and safety concerns. As part of the new plans, it will demolish the current structure to make way for the working group's new facility.
A DCC spokesperson said: "The next step is for the council to obtain a prior approval, which is a formal process which must go through the local planning authority."
