Blair invites US tourists to Britain in VisitBritain campaign
A US version of the television advert featuring knights in armour, black cabs and wellington boots which hit screens last year as part of the British Tourist Authority’s Only in Britain campaign has been launched in North America.
The advert, including a welcome from Tony Blair, is a key part of VisitBritain’s summer campaign to promote Britain as a tourist destination in the US.
Tom Wright, chief executive of VisitBritain, said: “We know there is strong demand in the US market for travel to Britain and are confident that prospects for the remainder of the year look bright.
“We are estimating an additional 60,000 visitors to Britain as a direct result of the summer campaign.”
The campaign includes over 600 offers for American visitors including reduced hotel rates in London, seats a popular musicals for less than half price and cheap car hire. Details: www.visitbritain.com
