Barnsley Premier Leisure (BPL) has partnered with CoverMe Fitness to simplify instructor recruitment, team management and compliance across 10 sites.

The organisation operates affordable, high-quality health, sport and leisure facilities under its Your Space brand in Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Mansfield and Pontefract.

Clare Hancock, corporate group exercise coordinator, oversees an extensive programme of more than 470 classes a week at BPL, managing instructor schedules and cover.

Hancock says: “CoverMe has completely streamlined how we organise group exercise class cover. Instead of phone calls, messages and endless emails, everything is handled through the app in just a few clicks. Sites simply post the cover needed, instructors can instantly see the opportunities and once they accept, the site confirms. It’s so quick and easy.”

Operators using CoverMe report savings of 5 to 15 hours a week, resulting in thousands of pounds every year.

BPL is also utilising CoverMe to ensure it is audit-ready at all times. The app alerts management of any instructor documents requiring renewal, ensuring that only fully qualified and insured staff are teaching at Your Space sites and BPL doesn’t accidentally fall out of compliance.

Finally, the app is helping BPL source new instructors to cover gaps in instructor schedules.

Hancock explains: “Whilst we’ve worked with most of these people before, they’re much more accessible through the app. We don’t have to scroll through databases to find cover and instructors don’t have to worry about missing emails or messages; they can pick up extra shifts through their phones.
