Dalesauna hybrid sauna offers the best of both worlds

Dalesauna has launched a sauna that combines infrared technology with a traditional sauna.

Developed for both the residential and commercial markets, the new Combi Sauna gives users the choice of two different heat experiences. The infrared sauna uses infrared light to heat the body directly, while the Finnish sauna relies on a traditional heat source to warm the air.

Gaining in popularity, infrared saunas provide a gentle, more soothing heat experience than traditional saunas and are very energy efficient. It takes just minutes for an infrared sauna to reach optimum temperature, and because it only heats the body and not the air around it, Dalesauna says infrared uses 32 per cent less energy than conventional heating methods.

Unlike ultraviolet light rays, infrared light is entirely safe. Dalesauna says it has natural healing properties from improving circulation and lowering blood pressure to relieving aches and pains.

Manufactured in the UK, the Combi Sauna comes in range of sizes, which can be tailored to maximise space. The unit is available in conventional sauna timbers such as pine, cedar and hemlock as well as the new RoHol veneered sauna board for a contemporary look.

Dalesauna offers a range of lighting options for the sauna including a variety of LED and fibre optic solutions in addition to specialist light therapy units, some with the option of MP3 connection and built-in speakers.

“Our new Combi Sauna offers the best of both worlds. Infrared is ideal for the home because of its energy efficiency, and its almost instant effectiveness means you can enjoy a quick 20 minutes after a long day in the office or use it to ease aches and pains after working in the garden. For commercial use, infrared offers specific physiological benefits for gym users before and after a workout. But if you just want to relax, there’s nothing quite like the warmth and calm of a traditional sauna,” says Gerard McCarthy, sales director at Dalesauna.

What is infrared?

Humans see colours in the visible part of the light spectrum, however, infrared is just outside the light spectrum that we can see, and is invisible to the human eye.

How does it work? Infrared waves don't need air or water to travel through and produce heat as soon as they strike an object – such as our bodies.

The infrared rays cause the molecules they strike to oscillate, which makes us feel warm.

Is it dangerous?

No, Dalesauna says infrared light is classed as non-ionising radiation, which means it lacks the ability to alter molecules it strikes. Unlike ultraviolet light which is ionising.

What are the benefits? Dalesauna says the benefits include detoxification, blood pressure reduction, pain relief, improved circulation, cell health and muscle recovery.
