Youth sports development for Bartow County
Plans have been unveiled for a new 262-acre (106-hectare) multi-sports complex at the heart of the LakePoint Sporting Community in Bartow County, Georgia, US.
Dream Parks at LakePoint is to be anchored by three tenants - baseball scouting company Perfect Game; North Atlanta Soccer Association; and LB3 Lacrosse. The scheme is being delivered by former Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox; Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost; and Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez.
Facilities will include 16 tournament baseball fields; 12 tournament soccer/lacrosse fields; and 100,000sq ft (9,290sq m) of indoor facilities for wrestling and gymnastics. A mentoring programme for disadvantaged young people; a research park for sports-related companies; and around 20 restaurants and entertainment venues are also proposed.
Bobby Cox said: "This project will have a two-fold positive effect not only for economic stimulus, but also the physical and developmental well-being of our youth." Al Pallone, mayor of the City of Emmerson, added Even in this dire economy a development like this will create great economic impact for the citizens of Emerson and all of Bartow County."
