Spiceball Park Leisure Centre pool reopens
Cherwell District Council (CDC) has announced that the main swimming pool at Spiceball Park Leisure Centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire, has been reopened to the public.
The pool was forced to close on 28 May due to "technical problems" with the circulation of water, although the council has confirmed that it is now satisfied water quality has returned to "optimum levels". Investigations will continue into the cause of the water circulation issues, with CDC portfolio holder for environment, recreation and health George Reynolds admitting the issue could reoccur in future.
Reynolds said: "Until we find the root of this problem it's possible there will be a repeat. We are working closely with Parkwood and the building contractor to isolate the cause but in the meantime we are pleased with the remedial work which has taken place." The trainer pool remained open at the venue, which first opened to the public in December 2009 and also includes a 150-station gym, a sports hall, two exercise studios and two squash courts.
A sauna, steamroom and spa; a café; a children's soft play area; and a crèche are also among the facilities at the Parkwood Leisure-operated venue.
