Plans revealed for £35m health and beauty haven in Norfolk
Planning permission has been filed to redevelop an office block in Docking, north Norfolk, into a £35m health, beauty and leisure retreat.
The proposals include turning the 11,720sq ft Granary – a former seed processing plant -– into a country club-style accommodation with health and leisure facilities.
The scheme is the brainchild of Marian Rose-Cartwright, founder of food brand, Cartwright and Butler, who now runs the Great Escape Holiday Company (GEHC).
She said: “I believe Norfolk is full of untapped talent and expertise. We aim to make The Granary an outstanding provider of the best 21st century treatments, services, products and training principles within the beauty, health and leisure industries.”
The Granary site was purchased in 2000 by Feast Properties, an associate company of GEHC, and plans also include the development of 100 luxury, sea-view suites.
The suites would be made available on a fractional ownership basis – a shorter form of a timeshare agreement – that allows the purchase of an agreed amount of days per annum, to be used at any time of the year.
Facilities will be mainly for residents only and will include a restaurant, health bar, coffee shop and a spa with an extensive range of treatments.
The spa would concentrate on hydrotherapy and the fitness section intends to concentrate on a holistic approach, offering lifestyle management and personal assessment.
Rose-Cartwright said: “This project is the result of four years of strategic planning and research and I am excited by the challenge of making this vision a reality.”
