LivingWell launches Express brand
LivingWell has launched a new fitness club brand for hotels, as part of its 1000-day strategic plan, called LivingWell Express.
The new brand is to be developed purely for hotel guests in locations where either too much competition or insufficient local residential population would limit the opportunity to sell membership in the area.
'LivingWell Express is all about providing a high quality fitness environment for hotel guests in locations where a full scale health club to be financially viable,' says Paul Harvey, managing director.
A first LivingWell Express has opened in the Hilton-owned Scandic Copenhagen Sydhavnen hotel and Harvey says as most UK Hilton hotels are in provincial areas, the brand will mainly be rolled out internationally, where they tend to be in cities or near airports.
Requiring a minimum area of 40sq m, the clubs will have cardio vascular and resistance equipment supplied by LivingWell's partner in the venture, Precor. They will also provide 30-45minute programme cards offering different objectives such as getting started, weight loss and general fitness.
The base model will be unmanned, with CCTV and panic buttons for user safety. Harvey hopes to see 40 LivingWell Express clubs open within his 1000-day target, initially just within Hilton hotels in Europe, but eventually reaching all over the world.
