Green light for £1.3m revamp of Ruthin Leisure Centre
Plans for a £1.3m revamp of sports and leisure facilities at Ruthin Leisure Centre in Denbighshire, North Wales have been given the go ahead by the council's planning committee.
Located on the grounds of Ysgol Brynhyfryd bilingual school, the redevelopment will see the addition of a full size all weather pitch, a fitness suite equipped with Technogym kit, a new reception area with viewing into the swimming pool and a new changing area.
Alliance Leisure will manage the centre on behalf of Denbighshire County Council.
The centre currently features a 25m swimming pool, a small all-weather pitch, sports hall, gym, fitness room and grass pitches.
Councillor Huw Jones, with responsibility for Leisure said: "We acknowledge that we need to modernise facilities and that is why we have put this ambitious programme together for Ruthin Leisure Centre.
"A key part of our leisure strategy is to increase greater participation in sport and leisure activities, whilst improving the health and well-being of our residents. This development will give people access to far better facilities, as well as encouraging more people to take part in regular exercise."
