Interactive SHOKK gym for Kimberley Leisure Centre
Kimberley Leisure Centre, part of Broxtowe Borough Council, has recently launched a new interactive youth gym called Vitality SHOKK.
Opening its doors in mid-November, the state-of-the-art gym has been designed exclusively to engage more young people aged 8-15 years-old in the local area into exercise and a healthier lifestyle.
The launch weekend received a tremendous response, with more than 150 members signing up in the first two weeks and a clear impact on family membership!
The new gym offers a complete range of equipment supplied by youth experts SHOKK, including cardiovascular, resistance, Interactive (including dance mats), Vew Do boards and even a combat zone.
The site will also be delivering a plethora of specialist group exercise classes such as SHOKK Race, SHOKK Box and SHOKK Urban.
To aid motivation and retention, the centre is implementing the SHOKK IPS (Incentive Points Scheme) - a reward scheme where young people can trade in points they have gained for effort or attendance and receive exciting prizes such as a SHOKK BMX bike. To ensure the longer-term success of the facility, Kimberly staff are being taken through SHOKK's Three Stripes Training Pathway. This means that not only will they be suitably qualified but also every few months they will be able to offer new and exciting programmes, classes or solutions to youth members.
Kieran Murphy, SHOKK Marketing Director commented: "It has been a breath of fresh air working on the launch of Vitality SHOKK. All of the staff involved, especially Paul Woodward, centre manager, are extremely innovative and forward thinking. They have listened and taken onboard everything we have gone through from a marketing strategy, to programming and training requirements. Success so far is testament to the potential and positive impact of such a facility with the right approach."
