easyGym unveils first UK club in Slough
easyGym, a new budget fitness concept from easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, has officially launched its first club at The Observatory Shopping Centre in Slough, Berkshire.
It is one of two new sites to open under the new brand this summer, with the second located in Wood Green, London. Other properties are also earmarked to launch by the end of 2011. PE Contracts has been appointed by easyGym to undertake the entire fit out of the former Virgin Active clubs, with the Slough site benefiting from an increased gym floorspace.
A new spin studio; replacement flooring; a female-only gym area; and redecoration formed part of PE Contracts work on the new 12,000sq ft (1,115sq m) Slough easyGym club. easyGym has been created by Sir Stelios in a licensing deal with private equity backed Fore Fitness, which will develop the brand and offer monthly memberships from £15 per month.
Paul Lorimer-Wing, joint chief executive officer of easyGym, said: "We've worked closely with some of the best brains in the business to develop a proposition, which we are confident will make us a leading player in the European market in the coming years."
