Whitbread rejects DLL demerger rumours
Whitbread has quashed rumours that it is planning to demerge its chain of David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) clubs.
The statement came following media speculation that the leisure giant was planning a move to make the health club chain a separate listed company.
In a statement, Sir John Banham, chair of Whitbread, said: “Whitbread has no plans to sell or otherwise dispose of its interest in David Lloyd Leisure.”
He added that the chain was “an excellent business” and one that the company would continue to invest in.
Whitbread bought the David Lloyd Leisure chain from former Davis Cup tennis captain, David Lloyd, nearly 10 years ago.
