Venus passes at space centre
The world will witness a rare event on 8 June, as the planet Venus passes in front of the sun for the first time since 1882.
To celebrate the occasion, the National Space Centre (NSC) in Leicester will offer guests a number of options to view the full transit.
Coordinated by the centre’s space communications manager, Kevin Yates, visitors can view the event as it happens through a telescope fitted with a solar filter or observe projections of the feat from a number of screens and cards around NSC
There will also be a number of space scientists on hand to talk about the Transit of the Venus.
The next opportunity to watch a full transit from the UK will not occur until 2247. Details: www.spacenow.org.uk/tov.cfm
