UVIC board approves new sports complex

Funding has been approved for the development of new Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities at the University of Victoria (UVIC) in British Columbia, Canada.
A formal announcement outlining the full details of the project will be made by the university in the autumn, although it is expected that the facility will be open in around three years. Facilities will boast a performance gymnasium and fitness and weight-training space, as well as teaching areas for the Department of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education.
Research and development space for CanAssist - a UVIC organisation working on services and technologies to help improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. Funding will be provided through a combination of university investment; sponsorship; and partnerships, as well as external fundraising efforts.
