Tone Leisure to redevelop three sites
Leisure trust Tone Leisure has appointed Alliance Leisure to fund and project manage the redevelopment of three of its managed sites.
The regeneration work will see facilities improved at the Wellington Sports Centre in Wellington and the Wellsprings Leisure Centre and Blackbrook Pavilion in Taunton. All three sites are expected to reopen to the public later this year.
Wellington Sports Centre will be the first project to finish at the end of August, when the gym is extended into the crèche area to create a 45-station, 240sq m fitness suite boasting Precor CV stations complete with personal viewing screens. The total cost of the project is expected to be no more than £60,000.
At Wellsprings, the first floor fitness suite will be extended into a space currently occupied by an underused sauna and steam area, resulting in a new 240sq m 70-station fitness suite.
The largest single project will see the Blackbrook Pavilion benefit from a £400,000 redevelopment which will see two squash courts and an exercise studio being transformed into a 350sq m fitness suite. The existing, smaller gym will be turned into a new exercise studio for group classes.
Blackbrook's new 75-station fitness suite will be kitted with a range of remanufactured equipment from supplier PTE, as well as CV equipment from the existing gym at Wellsprings Leisure Centre.
However, Precor has won a five-year contract to supply Tone Leisure’s CV equipment and the leisure trust intends to upgrade the remaining remanufactured equipment at Blackbrook Pavilion to Precor within the next three years.
Tone Leisure currently operates seven leisure centres in the Taunton and Deane area.
