Sun sets on Global Wellness Day in Hawaii: live update
As Global Wellness Day draws to a close, one more time zone has yet to celebrate its commitment to eradicating depression and unhappiness – one of the goals of the event’s founder Belgin Aksoy, creative director of hotel management company Richmond International.
Firms in Hawaii will give the day an impressive send off before the official ‘day’ ends at sunset. Examples of events taking place in this location include fitness classes, complimentary treatments, beverages and healthy snacks at The Spa at Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk – a property managed by spa consultancy WTS International.
More than 300 brands from 70 countries across the world offered not-for-profit events to the public today since sunrise in Fiji, designed to increase our consciousness of living a better life – even if it’s just for one day – to draw attention to healthier lifestyles.
“Ten years ago, wellness was considered a luxury,” said Aksoy. “Today most of us know that we all need to adopt a better lifestyle and approach to wellbeing. Ten years from now, people will know that ‘wellness’ is the answer – we’ll go back to basics and learn to appreciate the silence within our minds, as well as how to transfer positive vibes to others. We’ll take actions to learn the simplicity of happiness. At least this is my dream for the future and Global Wellness Day will be a very important instrument to achieve this dream.”
