Southport's Ocean Plaza to open by Christmas
Greenport Estates has appointed Jones Lang LaSalle as sole letting agent for a £35m seafront project in Southport, scheduled to open by Christmas 2002.
The site, which is over 70 per cent pre-let, has detailed planning permission for 90,000sq feet of open A1 retail accommodation, a hotel and 140,000sq feet allocated for leisure use.
Located next to Pleasureland, the site has the UK's second longest pier running through the middle, providing pedestrian and tram access to the town centre.
JJB has pre-let 42,000 sq feet for a health and fitness club and Spean Bridge Cinemas is set to open a seven-screen cinema complex.
Sole Leisure is introducing a 20-lane bowling alley, which will accommodate 26,000sq ft, leaving a final leisure area of 33,000sq ft of vacant space, which has planning permission for bar, restaurant, nightclub and casino uses.
Dan Davies of Jones Lang LaSalle said Ocean Plaza would form an integral part of the ongoing sea-front investment plans of the local council:
'The development of Ocean Plaza on Southport's seafront will truly enhance the retail and leisure experience for both the local community and the five million annual visitors to the town.' Details: Rob Howarth, Jones Lang LaSalle +44 (0)20 7399 5121/4136 or e-mail [email protected]
