Sheffield United FC launches Impact Health and Fitness
Sheffield United Football Club (SUFC) has launched its first health club – Impact – and revealed that it plans to roll out the brand nationwide.
The new community-based health club has opened on the site of The Forsyth Sheffield United Academy.
Impact Health and Fitness features a 165sq m (1,800sq ft), 45-station gym – supplied by Life Fitness – and includes a bar and lounge areas.
An outdoor gym and kids' Impact club are also planned for the site.
As a community-based facility, staff will be trained to conduct health walks, health awareness days, healthy eating demonstrations and smoking cessation, slimming, cardiac rehabilitation and chair aerobic classes.
The club was officially opened by film star Sean Bean on 21 October, having been open since 26 September.
Bean said: “I am impressed not only by the quality and range of the fitness equipment but also by the standard of the other facilities Impact is offering to the community as a whole, in particular to those people who need support in maintaining their health and fitness.”
Impact’s target membership is 1,000, though six weeks after opening the number of members stands at around 70.
SUFC is currently looking at two potential locations for further Impact clubs. Details: www.sufc.co.uk
