SFI rumoured to be after Pitcher and Piano chain
Following Wolverhampton and Dudley's move earlier this week putting its Pitcher and Piano brand on the market, press speculation is pointing to the SFI group as an interested buyer. W&D put the 41-strong town centre chain on the market as part of its strategic review. The review, beginning nine months ago, had been postponed, but W&D decided to reveal its strategy to return shareholder value while talks continue with Pubmaster and Botts and Company to buy Midlands-based operator. SFI, owner of the Litten Tree and Slug and Lettuce brands, is reported by The Times to be planning to make an offer in the region of £45m-£50m for the brand valued at £50.5m. SFI and W&D declined to comment on the story.
