Positive growth for Esporta
Health club operator, Esporta, has released a series of ‘positive growth figures’ for January, which it has attributed to an increased focus on services and standards within its organisation, initiated by new chief executive, Neil Gillis.
Overall, Esporta’s UK membership figures have increased by 14.5 per cent while like for like membership growth increased 9.9 per cent during January.
Fees per joiner over the same period have shown a 3 per cent increase across the company.
Since Gillis joined in September 2003, he has been responsible for putting a new management team in place and agreeing a £33m sale and leaseback deal with Standard Life for eight of the group’s UK freehold clubs.
He has also scaled down European operations by putting Esporta’s clubs in Spain, Germany and Sweden up for sale.
