Parkwood Leisure signs deal for first private health club
Parkwood Leisure has announced that it is to develop its first private health and fitness club in Salisbury, south Wiltshire, which is scheduled to open in December under the new Parkwood Health and Fitness brand.
The £3m development – to be designed by Parkwood’s Brimelow McSweeney team and project managed by Parkwood PFI – will include a fitness gym, a 20m pool, a health and beauty suite and two dance studios.
A 25,000 sq ft (2,300sq m), two-storey purpose-built facility, the club will be designed to cater for 3,000 members.
The Salisbury club, which will also feature a contemporary café bar, is set to be the first in a line of clubs for the Parkwood Health and Fitness brand.
The clubs will run alongside Parkwood’s local authority leisure centre fitness facilities – branded expressions – which generate more than 15 per cent growth year on year.
Parkwood Leisure has also begun rolling out an online booking facility at the leisure centres it operates in Bexley, Dartford, Lewisham and Croydon.
The website currently attracts around 35,000 unique visitors a month. Details: www.leisure-centre.com
