New-look gym for London college facility
Ethos - the sports centre at Imperial College London, South Kensington - has reopened its Energia fitness suite, following the completion of a major refurbishment programme.
Work at the venue has included the reconfiguration of the gym's layout and the installation of Matrix Fitness' Virtual Active suite of interactive video-based cardiovascular workouts. Gym users can also benefit from the ability to develop tailored fitness programmes with the help of an on-screen personal trainer using the MyRide indoor cycling system.
Neil Mosley, head of sport at the college, said: "With London 2012 fast approaching, we are also as dedicated as ever to developing our elite athletes." Matrix managing director Jon Johnston added: "We've worked closely with the Ethos team to tailor the site to their requirements and redefine the user experience at Energia."
Ethos is Imperial College London's flagship sports centre and is open to students and staff, as well as 400 private members. Other facilities include a 25m swimming pool; a sauna; a steamroom and spa; three squash courts; a five-court sports hall; a climbing wall; an exercise studio; and a sports injury area.
