New best practice forum launched
A new best practice forum has been launched to improve the competitiveness of the UK's tourism, hospitality and leisure industries.
Launched by Tourism Minister Kim Howells, the forum - Profit through Productivity - aims to create a world class tourism, hospitality and leisure industry through the recruitment, retention and motivation of staff and the provision of unbeatable, value for money services.
The DCMS, DTI, industry leaders and trade associations joined forces to establish the scheme that has already received £1.26m from the DTI. The five year programme was deemed necessary in light of the recent damage to UK tourism caused by the foot and mouth epidemic.
Capturing and sharing world class best practice is essential if we are to raise our game and meet the challenges facing our tourism, hospitality and leisure industries today, said Dr Kim Howells.
