Morrison wins appeal to go ahead with Aberdeen project
Morrison Developments has won its appeal to build a 95,000sq ft retail, hotel and leisure development in Aberdeen after the City Council turned down outline planning permission last October. Original plans to build the £20m leisure scheme will now resume, with scope for a 40,000sq ft health and fitness centre with swimming pool and a 124-bed hotel. Morrison anticipates that the Justice Mill Lane development will be Aberdeen's primary leisure destination, and is appealing to major brewers, nightclub and restaurant operators to join the scheme. Development manager, Martin Smith, says Morrison was always confident that it could deliver a high-quality complex in accordance with local and government policy and is now 'very keen' to work with Aberdeen City Council to deliver the project. Work on site will begin early autumn.
