Major leisure complex for Wokingham
Plans for a multi-million pound leisure complex in Wokingham, Berkshire have been unveiled.
A former Tesco site will be turned into a 40,000sq ft health club, restaurant and bar thanks to a deal between Wokingham District Council, Holmes Place Health Clubs and AXA Real Estate Investment Managers.
The Holmes Place health club will include a gym, swimming pool, aerobics and yoga studio and cr'che.
'This development will completely revitalise and regenerate the Denmark Street part of the town,' said deputy leader of Wokingham Council, Cllr Coling Lawley. 'The signing of this agreement marks the start of a new era for Wokingham.'
Work is due to start in February and the complex is expected to open early in 2003.
