Lost children a thing of the past?
Winner of the TiLE 2004 award for excellence and innovation, KidSpotter – from Theme Park Intelligence – is a new theme park management programme which incorporates a unique tool for keeping track of children.
Already in use at Legoland® in Denmark, it is based on a real-time location system that can accurately locate wi-fi devices such as notebooks, PDA’s and the KidSpotter RFID tags, both indoors and out.
The system consists of a location server; remotely configurable location receivers, which can be placed throughout a site on buildings, poles or other structures; and KidSpotter T2 tags, waterproof and available as either a wristband or a badge clip for attaching to a child.
Linking them all together is a KidSpotter communications platform; this connects to an SMS gateway which – on receipt of a text message – can then send real time location information on the whereabouts of a child to a parent or guardian’s mobile phone.
Other applications for visitors and running on the same platform include a ride reservation system, a virtual guide – with the answers relating to a person’s actual position – and interactive games and competitions.
Operators can benefit from asset tracking and real time and historical information on visitor density and flows.
Theme Park Intelligence is a trademark of Danish company, Opus IT A/S, and based in Horsens, Denmark.
