K2 Crawley receives IFI Award
K2 Crawley, which is run by leisure trust Freedom Leisure, has been awarded a 'Provisional Level' Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) award.
The trust has worked with Crawley Wellbeing and Crawley Borough Council to increase the inclusion of disabled people, of all ages, at K2 Crawley.
The centre has also announced plans to invest a further £12,000 in accessibility at the site.
Chris Lovelock centre manager at K2 Crawley said: "The increased investment in the centre has made a tangible difference to our disabled customers' experience."
In order for a centre to receive the IFI award, the operator has to ensure there are equipment in the gym to allow disabled members to enjoy a work out; sufficient and accessible parking bays; and inclusive toilet and changing facilities.
According to IFI figures, only 8.8 per cent of disabled people are regularly physically active.
