Health Club Games set to kick off in September
Now in its third year, the annual Health Club Games is due to start in September.
More than 5,000 competitors from hundreds of health clubs and leisure centres around the country are due to take part in the six-week event.
Participants are encouraged to set personal challenges from improving fitness levels to meeting personal bests.
There are 10 individual events ranging from swimming and running to biking and bench press, plus the Superthon, which is a combination of six events and has individual and team events.
Competitors register and take part in the challenge within the confines of their own gym, logging progress online, with the highest achieving competitors being invited to the Grand Finals at Next Generation, Hatfield.
Grand finalists compete for themselves and their club or centre with the chance to win medals, trophies and prizes such as holidays.
The Games also acts as a great fundraiser with every penny of the £15 registration fee going to Childline, the games’ nominated charity. The target is to raise £50,000 in 2006.
