Fitness First trading update

Fitness First intends to reach its target to have 190 clubs by the end of its financial year on 31 October 2001. Since the end of October 2000, the number of clubs has increased from 115 to 146, while membership has grown from 237,000 to 340,000. Christopher Pearce, chair, says the company is trading in line with expectations: I am pleased to announce that all of the groups operations have started the year well.
