Fitness First continues expansion in Asia
UK operator Fitness First will open a 3rd health club in Thailand next month. Located in the Bang Na district of Bangkok, the 2200sqm facility will offer members a Cosmic Cycling studio, featuring black walls with images of the cosmos glowing from the walls under UV lamps.
The US$2m club will also be equipped with the full Technogym strength training range, including the latest editions to the strength line. The cardio-theater will have 28 treadmills side by side and a juice bar sky lounge at the top of the club will offer spectacular views over Bangkok through floor to ceiling windows.
A further three sites are scheduled to open in the region in the next twelve months.
Fitness First opened it's first Thai health club in Central Pinklao, Bangkok, in November 2001, closely followed by a 2nd site on Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok in January 2002.
6,000 people in Thailand are a member of a Fitness First club. The group wants to grow that number by 12,000 in 2003.
In Hong Kong, the PCCW Tower in Quarry Bay will be home to a new Fitness First club this month. As well as a fully equipped gym with cardio entertainment zones linked to audio visual outlets, the club will feature a sauna, steam and solarium area plus a members lounge. It will be the group's fourth club in Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, a third Fitness First club will open in the Philippines in August. Fitness First Alabang will cover 2,000sqm and feature CV and resistance equipment by Technogym.
