Expansion continues at club indigo
Invicta Leisure has opened its first London club indigo in Illford. The three-storey, 33,000sq ft building is the largest club indigo to date.
Designed by Zync Design Consultants, the club features an indoor swimming pool and hydrotherapy pool. Each changing room has a sauna and steam room, and there are beauty treatment rooms alongside a relaxation area. As well as this, there is a 7,000sq ft fitness studio and individual aerobics, mind and body studios.
Club indigo Illford will form part of a new mixed used development in the borough of Redbridge, which will also include restaurants, a multiplex cinema and a hotel.
Development director at Invicta, Ken Weatherley, said: 'Illford demonstrates how the club indigo concept has developed over the last two years to ensure it remains at the forefront of industry standards.'
Invicta has also unveiled plans to open a club indigo in Harlow, Essex in summer 2003.
The 29,000sq ft club, which Invicta are leasing from developers Wilson Bowden, will form part of a £65m Harlow town centre redevelopment scheme. Facilities will include a 20-metre pool, fitness rooms, two aerobics studios plus seven treatment rooms and relaxation facilities.
These new sites will take the total number of UK club indigo sites to five. A further two sites in Rushington and Weston-super-Mare are also scheduled to open later this year, and another three clubs will be opened in Cardiff, Manchester and Kiel, Germany by the end of the year.
