Escape to Edinburgh for luxury
Edinburgh's long-awaited premium health club, Escape, has opened at the city's newest five-star hotel, The Scotsman.
Formerly the home of the Scotsman Publications Group, the 20,000sq ft Escape club is a result of a £3.5m refurbishment programme and includes a 16 metre stainless steel swimming pool, arctic showers, a 60-station gymnasium, six treatment rooms and an aerobics studio offering 25 weekly classes including sculpt, tai chi and bodypump.
Escape also offers private members and hotel guests Aura-Soma, a massage treatment based on a personal consultation using colour, and is the only Edinburgh spa to do so.
General manager, Brian Hunter, says the club fills a gap in the city's market: Edinburgh can now boast having the most impressive health club and spa in the heart of the city. Escape is original in its design, from the moment you walk through the doors, you are aware that this is no ordinary club. The latest in fitness technology and treatment rooms that ooze luxury mean that Escape is a significant addition to the health market in Edinburgh.
The club is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Scotsman Hotel Group, formed in 1999 by Charles Vere Nicoll, Nicholas Crawley and Jonathan Wix.
