Disability swimming academy launched in Wales
A new disability swimming academy has been launched at Barry Leisure Centre in an effort to produce more Welsh Paralympians from the Vale of Glamorgan.
The academy will welcome swimmers aged 11 and up who have achieved level five of the 'Learn to Swim' National Plan for Teaching or are able to swim 50m in a recognised swimming stroke.
The academy has been set up in a partnership between Swim Wales, the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Parkwood Community Leisure.
Simon Jones from the Vale of Glamorgan Council said: "This new competitive swimming academy will help to spot some potential stars and give them the training they need to hopefully reach an elite level."
