December opening for DLL's new Exeter club
David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) has revealed that its new £11m health and fitness club at Sandy Park in Exeter, Devon, is scheduled to open to the public on 13 December.
Construction work at the 60,650sq ft (5,635sq m) complex commenced earlier this year, with facilities set to feature a 25 x 12m indoor swimming pool, a 20 x 8m outdoor pool, three indoor tennis courts and five outdoor tennis courts. The DLL club, which will be sited adjacent to Exeter Chiefs' rugby ground, will also include a 12,900sq ft (1,198sq m) of fitness area incorporating a range of cv and resistance machines, free weights and Power Plates.
All of the centre's gym instructors will be qualified to Level 2 standard and will be included on the Register of Exercise Professionals, while specialist tennis and swimming programmes will be run for members. Greg Fanning, the new general manager of the Exeter club, said: "As well as introducing fantastic leisure facilities to the area, the club will also create more than 80 jobs, most of which will be filled by local people."
