Cybex fits out corporate gym
Shire Pharmaceuticals has opened a new £80,000 fitness club at its UK head office in Basingstoke.
Called Shire Fitness Centre, the facility is housed in the company's new £15m 60,000sq ft building, which is one of four buildings the company occupies in Basingstoke.
The 152sq m, 13-station club includes treadmills and resistance equipment supplied by Cybex, as well as a group exercise studio, therapy room, changing rooms and reception area.
Currently around 265 members of staff use the gym, which is solely for the use of Shire employees. Staff has access to the club free of charge.
Richard Strawn, centre manager, said: "As a pharmaceutical company, a key part of our overall message is about health. We are very keen to look after the health and wellbeing of our employees so it is vital that we give them the tools they need to do this."
