Chorion to take Tiger Tiger to Europe
Bar and nightclub operator, Chorion, has announced that it plans to roll its successful Tiger Tiger brand to Europe. Following successful launches outside of London with venues trading above expectations in Birmingham and Manchester, Chorion is looking to take the brand into Europe with the format having 'considerable potential' in major European cities. Cities currently being reviewed for potential bars include Paris, Barcelona and Madrid and Chorion is hoping to have a 'test launch' in Europe by 2002. Chorion's bar portfolio, including The Langley, On Anon and Zoo in London, have traded strongly in the year to 31 December 2000. The estate doubled to 12 sites, pre-tax profits across the sites rose by 37 per cent to £7.1m and turnover increased by 63 per cent to £26m. Chief executive, Nick Tamblyn, says Chorion's strategic plan is now proven: With our talented management team and an innovative market-leading operating format that trades successfully at the lucrative top end of the marketplace, a substantial business of outstanding value is being created for investors. Tiger Tiger's UK expansion is already under development. A Portsmouth site is scheduled to open in May, followed by Leeds and Croydon towards the end of the year. Negotiations are also underway for city centre sites in Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh among others.
