Central YMCA to upgrade facilities
The Central YMCA Club in the heart of London is to undergo a £2.6m redevelopment programme.
The work will transform the Tottenham Court Road-based centre’s health and fitness facilities and aims to increase the club’s membership base.
New family changing rooms will be added, the cv area will be expanded, a new free weights area will be added and a number of group exercise rooms will be built within the existing club.
To further expand the services on offer at the 116,000sq ft club, YMCA will also introduce holistic therapy rooms as well as improve disability access to the club’s swimming pool.
The improvements have been designed by Cheshire-based Pozzoni, while the new fitness equipment will be supplied by Technogym, Precor and Keiser.
Barry Cronin, executive director of Central YMCA , said: “The outcomes of the dramatic changes will benefit every member.
“It will enable us to meet the high demand for places on our healthy lifestyle, medical referral, community and kids’ activity programmes.”
Facilities at the club currently include a 25m, heated swimming pool, a multi-use sports hall, a wide range of cv and resistance equipment as well as group exercise rooms.
