Aura win honours at O2 Ability Awards
Aura win honours at O2 Ability Awards Aura Leisure group has claimed two awards at the 2006 O2 Ability awards held at Dublin Castle.
The Awards reward Irish organisations that are successfully working with people with disabilities.
Recognised in five of the award categories, Aura was presented with the national prizes for Customer Service and Environmental Accessibility, by Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.
Aura was also runner up to the Bank of Ireland, which took the overall honour at the Ability Awards.
“We realised was that we had been missing out on key market opportunities,” said Gar Holohan, head of Aura Leisure. “We were looking at people’s disability and the constraints that caused, when we should have been looking at their ability. The biggest challenge is changing our mindset and the way we see these people.”
A judge at the 02 Ability awards commenting on Aura’s success in the Customer Service category said: “This organisation has obviously got very high standards for itself in the areas of internal and external customer care.”
