Arsenal sports centre approved
Islington Council has finally approved plans submitted by Arsenal Football Club for a new sports facility on Queensland Road in Holloway, London.
Arsenal Sports Centre, which will accommodate educational and social-inclusion community programmes to local residents for at least 52 hours a week, will include the development of an affordable housing complex with a play space for children living in the new flats.
Arsenal director Ken Friar said: "This decision means that we can now start work on the development of 700 new homes, half of which will be new affordable homes, and the Arsenal Sports Centre.
"Both of these new developments are good news for the local community and we are working closely with our partners at Newlon to get the new housing underway as soon as possible."
