£4m hotel for Saint Germain des Près
A new £4m hotel is set to open on Rue Saint Sulpice in the heart of Paris’s Saint Germain des Près on 1 July.
The Esprit Saint Germain hotel is the inspiration of owner, Laurence Tafanel, and has taken four years to redevelop.
The hotel has 31 guestrooms including superior, deluxe and prestige rooms and one suite, which boasts exposed beams spanning the high ceiling space over the separate sitting room and bedroom, both of which open onto a roof terrace with day beds and table seating among the Paris rooftops.
There is also a wellness suite with a gym, sauna, steamroom and treatment facilities; a business centre; a library; a lounge bar with conservatory and a cave breakfast room below ground which converts to an alternative lounge during the day, when the dining tables are lowered to coffee-table height.
In the lobby, there is no reception desk, instead guests will be greeted by staff while seated on sofas.
The architect for the hotel was Edwin De Goy of Toy’s Factory while the interiors were designed by Charles Tassin. The property was an existing hotel prior to Laurence Tafanel’s purchasing it in 2001. Details: www.espritsaintgermain.com
