19 clubs in 19 months for Fitness First in Asia
Fitness First has announced three new clubs for Asia, bringing its total number of club openings to 19 in as many months.
Along with clubs already in Hong Kong, Thailand, The Philippines, Malaysia and Shanghai, the additional clubs will open in Malaysia next month, Manila early May and Bangkok at the beginning of June.
Although Fitness First is the second largest operator of fitness centres worldwide, it is the number one global fitness company with 360 clubs in seventeen countries.
Group Managing Director Michael Lamb explains why Fitness First has been successful in Asia:
'Our concept is simple. We build clubs big enough to give our members plenty of choice for their workout, yet small enough to know our members' names.'
The three new clubs will follow the Fitness First blueprint: each club will be around 20,000 sq ft and will have over 100 CV machines plus strength machines and freeweights. The clubs will have two group exercise studios with over 180 classes per month and facilities will include a massage and beauty menu, sauna and steam rooms, a personal training centre and a members' lounge offering complimentary soft drinks and VCD library.
Pre-sales for the new Bangkok club were 347 in two days which Fitness First attributes to its sensibly priced membership rates.
